about me

I am a Data Scientist in the AI Practice at GovTech Singapore. I’m currently co-leading the Responsible AI team, focusing specifically on LLM safety and algorithmic fairness. Some of our recent work includes open-sourcing LionGuard, a LLM moderation classifier which is localised to Singlish and the Singapore context (article, preprint), as well as conducting a fairness assessment on an internal LLM product which generates draft testimonials for teachers in Singapore (article).

Prior to this, I was the team lead for our forward-deployed data scientists at the Ministry of Manpower, working on a wide range of data analytics, machine learning, and LLM-related projects to support the ministry’s policymaking and operations. Before joining the Singapore government, I was the Lead Data Scientist at Lovelytics, where I was responsible for the company’s data science projects with external clients. I graduated from Columbia University in 2019 with a MA in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences (Data Science Focus), and from the University of Oxford in 2018 with a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.

As a data scientist, I am especially interested in fairness, safety, and interpretability in machine learning and AI. I’ve also co-published an academically reviewed article on algorithmic fairness and its implications on AI governance (article).

I am presently based in Singapore for my work at GovTech Singapore.
