I am a Staff Data Scientist at the AI Practice in GovTech Singapore, serving concurrently as the technical lead of the department’s Responsible AI team and the Assistant Head of the department.

As technical lead, I lead the Singapore government’s applied research work in AI safety, robustness, fairness, and evaluations. Our team has developed and open-sourced a range of tools and resources, including LionGuard1, the Agentic Risk & Capability Framework2, and MinorBench3. We also synthesised a systematic safety testing and guardrails methodology4 that has been operationalised through Litmus and Sentinel5 for the entire Singapore public sector. Beyond technical work, we also publish and update a Responsible AI Playbook6 and our RAI Benchmark7 to help agencies understand and apply key Responsible AI concepts. In addition, I also establish technical partnerships with local and international stakeholders, and lead a team of applied AI scientists and interns.

I am concurrently the Assistant Head of GovTech’s AI Practice, leading the department’s work in strategy, engagement, and partnerships. Since taking on the role in January 2026, I revamped how we triage high-impact and high-complexity problems across the Singapore public sector, how we cultivate high-quality research and industry partnerships, and how we project our department’s image both internally and externally.

Beyond my work in the public sector, I have been an adjunct lecturer at the National University of Singapore for the past two years, teaching an undergraduate course on data science and public policy8.

Prior to this, I held a dual appointment as a Senior Manager at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), working in the National AI Group to develop AI governance for the public sector. I was previously the data science team lead at the Ministry of Manpower’s Co-Lab unit, working on a wide range of data analytics, machine learning, and LLM-related projects to support the ministry’s policymaking and operations. Before joining the Singapore government, I was the Lead Data Scientist at Lovelytics in Washington D.C., where I was responsible for the company’s data science projects with external clients.

I graduated from Columbia University in 2019 with a MA in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences (Data Science Focus), and from the University of Oxford in 2018 with a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
